Oakmont United Methodist Church is known for its commitment to local missions. Throughout this year, the Verona Food Pantry at Verona United Methodist Church received over 10 car trunks full of non-perishable goods from our congregation. In addition, this year's turkey bag drive yielded 37 bags of food! 8 folks who use the Verona Food Pantry received gifts from the Angel & Shepherd tree. We had 20 residents from Ann Street Nursing Home on the Angel & Shepherd tree. Their Christmas will be difficult this year as the facility is closing soon. The presents Oakmont UMC has given will hopefully help them feel the Presence who is the true gift of Christmas.
The caring cabinet is located near 5th street in our parking lot. This is available to everyone!
The Local Missions Committee was excited to have Roots of Faith Director of Outreach, Kathleen Stanley, was here on Sunday, July 18 at the 11 a.m. worship service to share last year's accomplishments and to highlight their goals for the rest of 2021/2022. Oakmont UMC has supported Roots of Faith as a local mission for several years. Please be sure to be here to hear her message of gratitude and hope for Roots of Faith's future.
