Oakmont United Methodist Church is known for its commitment to local missions. Throughout this year, the Verona Food Pantry at Verona United Methodist Church received over 10 car trunks full of non-perishable goods from our congregation.
The caring cabinet is located near 5th street in our parking lot. This is available to everyone!
A community dinner is held at the Verona United Methodist Church the last Wednesday of every month from 4:00-6:30 pm. Each month, a different church from the area provides the food and serves the food! Our months are May and September!
The next Community Dinner is September 24 at the Verona UMC. Our church is in charge this month! We'll be serving about 160 people. The menu features meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, beverages, and desserts.
The Missions Committee will be collecting items for senior care bags for Christmas. We did this project last year, and it was a success thanks to the support and interest from the congregation. This year we're going to try to make an even dozen.
Please join members of the Missions Committee on November 15 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. for "From Amen to Action." The event will be held at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Participants will pack food boxes for those in the Pittsburgh area facing food insecurity. This is a great opportunity for students to earn community service hours. We will meet at the church parking lot around 7:30 and drive in for a morning of meaningful action.
